Jennifer Lawrence and husband Cooke Maroney are true New Yorkers. You’ll often see the couple stepping out in the streets of Manhattan wearing effortless, but put-together, looks. New Yorkers have that innate ability to put together outfits that are practical (you walk everywhere, after all!), yet still polished and stylish. Last night, the pair headed out to dinner at Il Buco downtown, and they nailed this off-duty dressing approach. Lawrence, in particular, proved that an understated, all-black ensemble can still shine.
Mastering a monochromatic outfit all about the proportions and accessories. She built her ensemble around an oversized button-up shirt, tank top, and breezy dress pants—but instantly elevated the casual look with a pair of strappy, barely-there heels by The Row. The label from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen is the definition of stealth-wealth, and Lawrence clearly leaned into that vibe here. (Lawrence is a huge fan of The Row’s footwear.)
Her colorful beaded necklace and sporty crossbody bag, however, injected the look with a little more quirky personality—making for an end result that was the perfect mix of high and low. If anything, consider her styling approach concrete proof that a good shoe can do all of the work for you. Especially when it’s designed by the Olsen twins.
